Update: access to NewsGuard will end on March 31, 2025.

Trust ratings for news: a dedicated NewsGuard team intellectually is reviewing and rating important news sources that account for 95% of online engagement.

Each site is rated using nine basic, apolitical criteria of journalistic practice. Based on the nine criteria, each site gets a trust score of 0-100 points and a detailed “Nutrition Label” review explaining who is behind the site, what kind of content it publishes, and why it received its rating - with specific examples of any trust issues the NewsGuard team found.

You will need to register for an account with NewsGuard. Just enter the required information in the form Data Access Agreement entering your university e-mail address, and you will receive further instructions directly from NewsGuard.

At the end of March of every year, NewsGuard will pause access to all accounts. If you need continued access, NewsGuard will send instructions on how to proceed.
