Democracy Research Graz

As part of the focus determination at the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Graz, an interdisciplinary working group on democracy research was established in 2022. The participating scholars share the view that democracies consist of more than just their institutional configuration. In addition to democratic procedures secured by institutions, democratic orders fundamentally also rely on diverse forms of participation and inclusion, exchange, and civil society engagement.

To fulfill this scientific focus politically as well, the Democracy Research Working Group proposes the establishment and development of a Democracy Forum in the center of Graz. This initiative would link the research mandate with societal responsibility.
