Gender studies with a cultural studies perspective is interdisciplinary in nature and examines the societal impact of the interplay between gender other differences in society.
Societal diversity can be interpreted as a potential and a valuable resource; yet it is often accompanied by inequalities.
The Subject Area of Gender and Diversity focuses on contemporary society – the world of work, the various shapes of family life and relationships, as well as artistic and cultural artefacts – and analyses the significance that gender, origin, sexual orientation, ability and / or age (to name just a few) have in these social spheres.
