HSG Best Talents

The University of St.Gallen (HSG) offers a support programme for particularly talented and committed bachelor’s graduates who wish to complete their Master's degree at the HSG. Those who are accepted into the programme receive not only financial, but professional and personal support.

HSG is one of the leading business universities in Europe. In line with our mission “Empowering talents, inspiring leaders”, we endeavour to attract the most talented students to St.Gallen. But talent is not the only thing we expect, engagement and initiative are also crucial. At St.Gallen, we are proud of the above-average engagement of our students and their willingness to take on responsibility during and after their studies.

Who are the HSG Best Talents?

In principle, anyone who is interested in a Master's programme at HSG, meets the relevant criteria and lives in St.Gallen during their studies can apply. To have a good chance of securing one of the coveted places, you need excellent grades and a willingness to get involved beyond your studies. In addition, the selection process considers a sense of responsibility (towards society, the economy and the environment) and diversity of perspectives. Finally, we expect our Best Talents to promote and support future Best Talents after completing their studies, in the spirit of a strong alumni community.

How does one become a HSG Best Talent?

When registering for a Master's programme, select the option “Apply for Best Talents Programme” and submit the additional application documents. The heads of our Master's programmes will then nominate candidates from their respective programmes. This ensures that the Best Talents Programme covers all fields of study. A qualified, independent and diverse committee then makes the final selection. The programme starts with at least 15 talents, and in its final stage, a maximum of 45 talents will be able to participate in the excellence programme each year (starting each autumn semester).

What are the advantages of HSG Best Talents?

The programme not only offers academic and financial support but also promotes personal and professional development. Participants receive the following benefits:

  • Tuition fees covered
  • Contribution towards living expenses
  • Individual mentoring
  • Exclusive access to the HSG community, including lecturers, alumni and partner organisations
“Together with our funding partners, we can attract and nurture the best talent and support them in taking on responsibility in business and society. This is entirely in line with our mission: Empowering talents, inspiring leaders.”
Prof. Dr. Manuel Ammann, President of the University of St.Gallen

Many thanks to our funding partners

The HSG Best Talents Programme is only possible thanks to private support. We would like to thank all donors and, in particular, the following organisations, which, as initial funding partners, have made a significant contribution to the realisation of the HSG Best Talents Programme:

  • Bindella Enterprises
  • Jeannette and Robert Meier Foundation
  • KPMG Switzerland

Thanks to our initial funding partners, the programme can start in the autumn semester of 2026. However, we are also dependent on further support in the medium to long term. If you would like to support talent promotion at HSG, please contact the HSG Foundation in confidence.
