In her PhD thesis, Felicitas Kasper explores the broader economic and socio-cultural changes that have influenced the rise of private art museums in German-speaking regions. Her study integrates the historical development and characteristics of private art museums with an analysis of the economic, cultural-political, and legal factors that may have facilitated their growth. The study will conclude with a discussion of the social and cultural implications of this development, along with policy recommendations in response to the expansion of private art museums.
