Research in the Department of History pursues the strategy of developing new historicising perspectives on important contemporary debates that have a critical impact beyond the boundaries of the subject of history. The University of St.Gallen is a particularly suitable research location for this with its international appeal and its focus on economics, political science and law. The thematic focus of the department is on the history of knowledge, economics and science, whereby in all fields the political and social implications of the phenomena studied are in the foreground.
