Chair Hettich

Welcome to Chair Hettich

 

Peter Hettich is professor for public law. He is researching and teaching in the area of public economic law as well as construction, planning and environmental law. He serves as a director for the Institute of Public Financial Law, Fiscal Law and Law and Economics (IFF-HSG) and leads there the department of economic law. 

Peter Hettich is heading, in joint collaboration with other professors of the University of St.Gallen, the Centre for Energy Innovation, Governance and Investment (EGI-HSG), which forms part of the Swiss Competence Centre for Research in Energy, Society and Transition (SCCER CREST). Furthermore, he is member of the Members Board of the Research Centre for Information Law (FIR-HSG). He is also active in further education at the Executive School of the University of St.Gallen (ES-HSG).  

With his team, he is researching on and publicizing in economic constitutional law and regulated markets, in particular competition law, common market law, economic and social regulation of enterprises, infrastructure law and law of public utilities and other public entities.

Regulated areas are, e.g., the audio-visual media sector, telecommunication and energy industry, financial institutions, companies in the public health sector and the gambling industry.

Apart from research, Peter Hettich writes expert opinions for private and public entities as well as for the federal, cantonal and local administrations. Additionally, he works as a legal consultant for VISCHER Ltd (Zurich).
