Seraina Grünewald joined the University of St. Gallen in 2024. Her research and teaching focus on central banks, the digitalization of money and the transition to a more sustainable economy. She publishes in top journals and with international publishers in English and German. Her expertise is regularly commissioned by national, European and international authorities, including the International Monetary Fund, the European Central Bank, the European Stability Mechanism and FINMA.
Seraina Grünewald is also a member of the Academic Board of the European Banking Institute (EBI), an academic fellow with the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on European Union Sustainable Finance and Law (EUSFiL) and a member of the Committee on International Monetary Law of the International Law Association (MOCOMILA).
As per 1 April 2024, she joined the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence as a part-time professor.

On 14 January 2025, the Symposium „TBTF & financial stability“ took place at ETH Zürich, which Seraina Grünewald co-organized with Isabelle Chabloz, Franca Contratto, Aline Darbellay, Mirjam Eggen, Nina Reiser and Corinne Zellweger-Gutknecht.
Since 1 January 2025, Seraina Grünewald is a member of the Monetary Policy Expert Panel advising the ECON Committee of the European Parliament.
