Research projects and collaborations are ongoing in areas such as the basic concepts of philosophical aesthetics, politics and forms of representation, the relationship between democracy and imitation, and the interplay between ethics and aesthetics, both within and outside the University of St. Gallen. Contacts are also maintained with individuals from theater, opera, ballet, music, composition, and visual arts.
A collaboration under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Judith Siegmund, Professor of Philosophical Aesthetics at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), focuses on the emancipatory and transformative aspects of post- and decolonial art practices and their influence on the basic concepts of aesthetic theory. This collaboration explores how contemporary art practices challenge and reshape traditional aesthetic frameworks, offering new perspectives and critical approaches that reflect broader socio-political and cultural transformations.
