Dania Achermann is interested in the history of the geosciences since the 19th century and the role of technology in the development of knowledge about the natural environment. A particular focus is on the history of atmospheric and climate sciences, glaciology, ice, snow, and polar research, as well as on processes of institutionalisation and interdisciplinarity. In her projects, she analyses how societal values as well as political and economic conditions influenced scientific research. Furthermore, Dania Achermann investigates the role technology played in the generation of scientific knowledge.
