Teaching

The chair for German Language and Literature`s teaching activities are positioned in the area of skills and languages. The courses we teach are designed to transmit philological core competences in a manner which enables students to employ them towards the cultural contextualization of their principal subjects in the fields of economic and management studies, law studies and political sciences. At the center of our interdisciplinary knowledge transfer lies the concept of Critical Literacy, i.e. the capability to recognize and critically reflect those subjects` content and practices as contextually (historically, politically, economically, socially) determined cultural techniques in order to enhance those techniques` efficiency and impact. Through this we aim to improve students` understanding of both their own and other disciplinary and national cultures.

To this end, the chair for German Language and Literature offers courses in cultural history on leadership, entrepreneurship, strategy, trade and marketing as well as on the cultural history of Europe and its relationship with Asia.
