Whether they provide information about the condition and findability of products, or serve as mobile self-checkout terminals for customers: The use of humanoid robots also has great potential in retail. But whether these scenarios become reality depends above all on the acceptance of the robots by employees. The Institute of Retail Management at the HSG (IRM-HSG), in collaboration with the management consultancy Unity, Migros ZH Fachmärkte, Valora and Swisslog, investigated how this looks and how it can be increased. The result of this project, supported by Innosuisse, was the Robot-Readyness-Index. This index supports managers in the retail trade in the employee-oriented introduction of robotics solutions.
