Drawing on our respective expertise in anthropology, law, criminology, and sociology, we approach the study of British cultures from a variety of angles. All our courses share an emphasis on different struggles for justice, as they are articulated by people living in Britain and its former colonies. We teach at the BA and MA level and train doctoral students.
We welcome applications from doctoral students as well as from postdoctoral researchers who wish to apply for funding with us. We encourage students with disciplinary training in law, anthropology, sociology, and criminology to apply. Our fields of expertise include, but are not limited to, the following: the crisis of democracy, criminal justice, austerity and welfare policies, legacies of Empire and colonialism, gender, class, and race. If you are interested to work with us, please write to insa.koch4@unisg.ch.
