To be credible, sustainability requires leading by example. That is why we are working to make our campus and internal processes more sustainable in a holistic manner, and increase visibility of our progress.
Over the past year, HSG again made significant progress towards greater sustainability in its operations. Greenhouse gas emissions across all scopes have decreased by 10% compared to the 2019 baseline year, driven by coordinated bottom-up measures, budgetary restrictions, and systemic effects. To guide these efforts going forward, HSG approved its Net Zero Roadmap, focusing on the priority levers of academic travel, food, and procurement. Progress was also made regarding the future campus infrastructure. Following an architectural competition, the Canton of St. Gallen chose the Tsumiki concept - a wooden structure with an eco-friendly, economical design – to be used for the new Campus Platztor. To further improve inclusion in teaching and learning, the University launched a project on inclusive teaching.
