Health Forward Programme

The Health Forward Programme supports research projects in the field of health sciences which combine elements of the research disciplines of the University of St.Gallen and medical care:

-    Collaboration projects with the partner institution HOCH Health Ostschweiz
-    Start-up project with at least one of the Eastern Switzerland partner institutions that enable the recipients to prepare and submit applications to national or international research funding bodies.
 

Funding is provided for collaboration projects between HOCH Health Ostschweiz and the University of St.Gallen in the field of health sciences, that combine elements of the scientific disciplines of the University of St.Gallen and medical care. 

Funding:
A maximum of CHF 25,000 per participating institution and project (max. funding contribution of CHF 50,000) are granted. 

Application
•    The application must be submitted in parallel to the Research Committee of the University of St.Gallen and the Research Committee HOCH Health Eastern Switzerland.
•    The application will be evaluated at the respective regular meetings of the Research Commit-tee of the University of St.Gallen and the Research Committee of  HOCH Health Ostschweiz.
•    The entry modalities of the University of St.Gallen according to the application form and HOCH Health Ostschweiz apply.

Evaluation
The Research Committee of the University of St.Gallen and the Research Committee of HOCH Health Ostschweiz evaluate the application independently of each other. The application must be approved by both the Research Committee of the University of St.Gallen and the Research Committee of HOCH Health Ostschweiz.

Next submission deadline: 1. September 2026

Projects must be submitted to both HOCH Health Ostschweiz and the university on time.

Requirements
Research projects in the field of health sciences are supported, which combine elements of the re-search disciplines of the University of St.Gallen and medical care.
Only research projects that are developed and carried out in collaboration with Eastern Switzerland partner institutions will be supported.
Applicants must submit a project proposal for a basic research project to a national or international research funding body.
 
Eligibility
•    Full professors
•    Associate professors
•    Senior lecturers
•    Assistant professors
•    Postdoctoral researchers (contracted for at least 0.5 FTE)
•    Bridge professors of the University of Zurich (Brückenprofessuren der Universität Zürich)
 
Funding
Funding is awarded for a maximum of 18 months and up to a maximum of CHF 100'000 for the en-tire funding period.
Staff and social security costs of project staff (pay grades F6, F4 and F8) pursuant to the regular salary categories of the University, and indispensable research costs. Staff and social security costs of project staff of the Eastern Switzerland partner institution pursuant to the actual salary categories of the part-ner institution. No funding will be granted to cover the applicant’s and project partner salary, confer-ence fees and publication costs. Evaluation
For the scientific assessment, the Research Committee is supplemented by a member appointed by the management board of the School of Medicine.

Reporting
Within the scope of the BRF-reporting, beneficiaries are asked by the Research Committee Office to provide information about the progress and the results of their funding. The scientific report (tem-plate on the right under downloads) should be sent via E-mail to the Research Committee Office.
