MBA-HSG ranked 13th worldwide

The Wall Street Journal published a new edition of its MBA ranking series focusing on one year accelerated MBA programmes around the world. The University of St.Gallen's full-time MBA programme is ranked 13th worldwide.

21 September 2009. The ranking comprises nine European schools, five in the U.S. and one in Latin America. At the top of the list are three European schools with a strong tradition of delivering respected degree programs. At No. 1: IE Business School in Madrid, praised by students and alumni for the diversity of its student body and networking opportunities.

IMD at No. 2.
From Switzerland, IMD Lausanne`s rigorous leadership-oriented 11-month programme came in at No. 2. The U.K.'s Cranfield School of Management, with its teamwork-focused atmosphere, is No. 3. Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and Babson College's F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business—both in the U.S.—round out the top five.

Focus on accelerated programmes
The WSJ's new ranking is the first one to focus specifically on accelerated programmes, and is based on two surveys conducted firstly with current MBA students and then with graduates from two years ago in 2007. The ranking measures the satisfaction of participants with all aspects of the programme including academic content, career prospects and success as well as services.

The survey assesses the impact and usefulness of the MBA in relation to post-MBA employment.

Students and alumni satisfied
The University of St.Gallen (HSG) is committed to maintaining a high level of quality and brand recognition in its programme. The WSJ placing acknowledges these efforts. This ranking indicates that both students and alumni are satisfied with the St.Gallen MBA programme.

However rankings by definition only address and measure a limited number of programme aspects. While rankings provide MBA applicants with important information, applicants should consider a broad range of factors when choosing the MBA programme that suits them best.

"Testament to our attention to the quality"
"The Wall Street Journal's ranking is an important benchmark for the St.Gallen MBA, and is a testament to our attention to the quality and service delivered in the programme. We will continue to focus on the long term development of the programme for the benefit of our MBA students and alumni", says Prof. Winfried Ruigrok,Ph.D., Academic Director of the St.Gallen MBA.
