"The sun is shining for entrepreneurship at the HSG," said President Prof. Dr. Manuel Ammann yesterday evening as the autumn evening sun streamed into room 11-0031 at SQUARE. We are an entrepreneurial university, and this room will be used to develop new ideas in the future. He is referring to the room known as the 'Discovery Grid' in the SQUARE, which until now has mainly been used by the SHSG clubs. From now on, it will also be used by Startup@HSG, the University of St.Gallen's support programme for young entrepreneurs. We are creating a new home for the entrepreneurial talent at the HSG," says Prof. Dr. Dietmar Grichnik, founder and head of the programme.
In addition to the existing Startup@HSG premises, such as the "RO51" co-working space at Rosenbergstrasse 51 and the office containers next to the library building, the new space will primarily be used for individual events of the support programme. These include pitching events and walk-in coaching sessions. The space can be booked by Startup@HSG, but also by HSG students for collaborative work on their start-up projects.
But it is not only HSG students with a great business idea who can use the space. It will also be available to national and international start-ups as part of the activities of the HSG START Accelerator foundation. This foundation, which is financed by the HSG, the Canton of St.Gallen, Switzerland Innovation Park OST and START Global, prepares young companies for the growth phase and helps them to increase their chances of survival and attractiveness, particularly for venture capital.
