As an Australian tutor of English as a Foreign Language (EFL), I have taught a wide variety of courses in Swiss universities and colleges for over twenty years.
These include academic, business and technical English, as well as the conversation courses I have been offering to staff at the University of St. Gallen for the last five years. At the heart of my teaching is the ethos that language is learnt best through social interaction, and in my classes mutual respect and cooperation are afforded the highest values. Participating students are supported and stimulated on their language learning journey through the safe space of the classroom, and peer learning is also encouraged.
Besides my love of teaching, as an ex social worker, I am passionate about issues of social justice and am interested in other cultures and languages. In addition to this, I enjoy reading, cooking for friends and family, and spending time in my garden.
