Disciplinary Committee

Disciplinary Committee (Art. 35 UG)

Pursuant to Art. 35(1)(b) of the University Act of 14 November 2024 [sGS 217.1; UG], the Disciplinary Committee of the University of St.Gallen is the appellate body of the University of St.Gallen. It administers justice in disciplinary matters (Art. 55(1) UG and Art. 158 ff. of the University Statutes of August 30, 2024 [sGS 217.15; US]).

Articles 55 et seq. UG and Articles 157 et seq. US govern disciplinary matters. Enrolled students and doctoral students, other course participants and applicants for admission to the university or for a university degree (Article 55 UG) are subject to these.

The Board of Directors is the electoral body of the Disciplinary Committee (Art. 20 para. 2 let. g no. 10 UG). The Disciplinary Committee is comprised of five members (Art. 56 para. 2 UG in conjunction with Art. 157 para. 2 US):

• a president who is neither employed nor enrolled at the university;
• two full or associate professors;
• a representative of the advanced researchers and teachers;
• a representative of the students and doctoral students.

The Disciplinary Committee shall open disciplinary proceedings at the request of the President or a body appointed by him/her (Art. 160 para. 2 of the US).

If a violation of university regulations is established, i.e. a disciplinary offense as defined in Art. 56 para. 1 UG in conjunction with Art. 159 US, the Disciplinary Committee imposes disciplinary measures in accordance with Art. 57 UG in conjunction with Art. 164 US.
