Business administration research top

The Handelsblatt published its ranking list for leaders in business administration research within Europe's German-speaking regions. The University of St.Gallen (HSG) achieved second place.

27 May 2009. The Handelsblatt published its ranking list for leaders in business administration research within Europe's German-speaking regions. The University of St.Gallen (HSG) achieved second place, followed by the Universities of Mannheim and Zurich. The top position in the regional ranking is occupied by the University of Vienna.

Good result for Swiss and Austrian universities
The Handelsblatt- Science-Ranking presents, most notably, universities in Switzerland and Austria with good results. Research performance was analysed by business administration researchers and faculties. The study was conducted according to international standards, and was carried out by the Thurgauer Business Insitute (TWI) on behalf of the Handelsblatt.

In the category "Top 25 Faculties in Business Administration" , with 82 points the University of St.Gallen (HSG) followed the University of Vienna by only five points. The University of Mannheim reached a total of 77 points, Zurich 69 and ETH Zurich 35.

Top research leaders in business administration
One week ago the Handelsblatt presented, for the first time, top research leaders in business administration within the German-speaking region. St.Gallen representatives in this field received particularly good individual rankings: Prof. Dr. Andreas Herrmann, with his expertise in business metrics, occupied eighth place in the list "Top 25 Research Developments". In the list "Top 25 Life Works" Andreas Herrmann was ranked 16th.

18 business administration professors listed
The HSG's increasing prominence in the field of leading research is proven by the fact that a further 18 business administration professors were listed under the Top 200 in rankings for current research developments.

In the compilation of results, the Handelsblatt analyses the research developments of 2100 business administrators from Germany, Austria and German-speaking Switzerland.

The rankings were based on the academic writings from 761scientific journals, whose quality was judged according to various indicators. The papers needed to satisfy cutting-edge standards in terms of both content and methodology.
