Appointment: Kazem Haki

Prof. Dr. Kazem Haki has been Associate Professor of Information Systems at the University of St.Gallen (HSG) since 1 September 2026.

Prof. Dr. Kazem Haki completed a Master of Science in Information Technology Management at the University of Tehran, Iran, in 2004. He subsequently worked for several years in industry as a technology strategy consultant. In 2014, he earned his doctorate in Information Systems from HEC Lausanne, Switzerland. He then joined the University of St.Gallen as a postdoctoral researcher (2015–2017) before being appointed Assistant Professor (2017–2021). Since 2021, he has been an Associate Professor at the Geneva School of Business Administration (HEG Genève). In 2023, he completed his Habilitation at the University of St.Gallen in Business Administration, specializing in Information Systems.

Research in the fields of digital platforms, generative and agentic AI, and enterprise architecture

Prof. Dr. Kazem Haki's research examines the dynamics and evolution of complex sociotechnical systems. Within this broad theme, his current work focuses on digital platforms and platform ecosystems, generative and agentic AI, enterprise architecture, and computationally intensive approaches to theory development, as well as the intersections among these areas. His research combines qualitative, design-oriented, and computational methods to address contemporary challenges in digital transformation and AI.

His research has been published in FT50 and leading Information Systems journals, including “MIS Quarterly”, “Journal of the Association for Information Systems”, “European Journal of Information Systems”, “Journal of Information Technology”, “Business & Information Systems Engineering”, “Communications of the Association for Information Systems”, and “MISQ Executive”. His work has also received several Best Paper Awards. He currently serves as an Associate Editor for the “European Journal of Information Systems” (since 2021).

Prof. Dr. Kazem Haki has extensive teaching experience at Bachelor's, Master's, and Executive Education. His courses focus on business analytics, enterprise platforms and digital business processes, enterprise architecture, strategic management, and research methods. His teaching philosophy combines academic rigor with practical relevance, enabling students and executives to apply state-of-the-art research to real-world organizational challenges.
