Andreas Kirchschläger (FDP) studied Law and Economics at the University of St.Gallen (HSG) and served as the President of the St.Gallen Symposium from 1997 to 2008. From 2002 to 2015, he held a teaching position at HSG. Today, Kirchschläger is CEO and Founding Partner of the elea Foundation for Ethics in Globalization. Since 2013, he has also been a member of the Board of Trustees of the HSG Foundation.

In light of his election to the Board of Governors, Andreas Kirchschläger will resign from this position once the handover of responsibilities to his successor is ensured. As a long-time companion of the University of St.Gallen, he is excited about his election to the Board of Governors, stating, "Our HSG is a unique institution. I am very much looking forward to contributing to its further successful development as a member of the Board of Governors. This is particularly true considering its tremendous potential as well as the external and internal challenges that the University of St.Gallen will face in the coming years," said Andreas Kirchschläger.

Thomas Scheitlin was elected to the Board of Governors on June 1, 2008, and served as its vice president from November 2019 until his resignation on June 20, 2023. Regarding his involvement in the Board of Governors, he stated, "The University of St.Gallen is a matter close to my heart. As a former mayor of St.Gallen, it was important to me, as a member of the Board of Governors, to actively and personally contribute to shaping the strategic framework for a successful future of the university in the city of St.Gallen."

During Thomas Scheitlin's term, the Board of Governors dealt with numerous pivotal topics for HSG. He recalls, "Among many other things, I remember the spatial development with the establishment of the new campus at Platztor, the incubator 'Startfeld' founded jointly with the University, discussions regarding the Joint Medical Master, and participating in the accreditation interviews and the search committee for the new President. It was a very exciting, occasionally turbulent time that I look back on with great pleasure. The University has successfully evolved, and I am glad that I could contribute to it." The HSG would like to sincerely thank Thomas Scheitlin for his great commitment to the interests of the university.
