We recommend taking on a job during your studies or in one of the semester breaks. A job is not only a source of income, it is also useful in many other respects. You can gain practical experience, apply what you have learned during your studies in a practical setting, and build up a network. Our graduates, rate „professional experience“ as a major criterion when job hunting.

With your student ID number and your HSG password, you can also access our recruiting platform, HSG Talents Online, which is a service provided by our Career Services Center. The platform lists more than 1,200 job vacancies a year. Moreover, the Career Services Center hosts the HSG Talents Conference every spring. It is the official recruiting event; more than 100 top-level companies present themselves on campus over the course of four weeks.
As a Ph.D. student you can work as a part-time assistant at a department or at one of the HSG institutes. Job vacancies with the possibility of doctoral studies are published on our job portal.
As a student from an EU/EFTA country with a B residence permit, you may be in gainful employment in Switzerland for up to 15 hours per week without having to apply for a work permit. As a student from a non-EU/EFTA country with a B residence permit, you can apply for a 15-hour/week work permit with the Immigration Office of the Canton St.Gallen (Migrationsamt). If you are looking for paid employment of more than 15 hours a week, then you should contact the Immigration Office.
