Students celebrate the Main Building

With the beginning of Autumn Semester 2010, HSG students are again able to use the renovated Main and Auxiliary Buildings and the Aula – reason enough for a party on Campus.

21 September 2010. Cranes, diggers and deep holes: ever since the beginning of the renovation and extension work in 2006 (start of the Sports Hall construction), the HSG Campus has been one great building site. From 20 September 2010, however, students will be able to use the new Migros Restaurant, the renovated Main and Auxiliary Buildings, as well as the Aula. A majority of today’s students will in fact be entering these buildings for the first time ever.

Party for HSG members and the general public
In order to celebrate this fittingly, the HSG and the Student Union have worked hard in the past few months to organise a two-day celebration for HSG members on 21 and 22 September. In his opening address, Student Union President Christian Funk said he was pleased that after the separation caused by the renovation in the Library Building and the provisional teaching facilities in the Sports Hall, the Main Building was again providing the University of St.Gallen with a centre.

Neighbours and the general public are also invited to the party, in addition to guided tours of the buildings and their art works and a live concert on the first evening.

Official inauguration in autumn 2011
However, the official inauguration with an open day will only take place once all the construction work has been concluded – after the Sports Hall has been completed and the old restaurant has been converted into a Student Services Centre – in autumn 2011.
