Springboard for entrepreneurs

The HSG’s new Entrepreneurship Campus pools forces at the University which address the manifold aspects of start-ups and entrepreneurship in depth.

15 Februar 2012. Switzerland is one of the world’s most innovative countries. Thousands of enterprises are set up in this country every year – an elementary economic factor, for economic growth is the result of innovation. And the Swiss economy – which is poor in natural resources – particularly depends on high-value, world-conquering ideas, which makes innovative entrepreneurs all the more important.

Cooperation with Alumni and Startfeld

The spirit of enterprise has been afforded a high degree of significance at the HSG for years. Now the Entrepreneurship Campus provides a platform for the development of business ideas with like-minded people and for their implementation at the HSG. This virtual campus is coordinated by Prof. Dr. Dietmar Grichnik (Institute of Technology Management, ITEM-HSG), Prof. Dr. Thomas Zellweger (Swiss Research Institute of Small Business and Entrepreneurship, KMU-HSG) and doctoral student Florian Forster (HSG Gründer Lab). The Entrepreneurship Campus receives professional support through close cooperation with HSG Alumni and the regional start-up platform Startfeld.

A Founders’ Garage full of projects

A good view of entrepreneurship at the University of St.Gallen is provided by the “HSG Founders’ Garage”, which will take place for the second time from 22 February to 7 March 2012. During the first three semester weeks, more than 30 exhibitors will be presenting their start-up projects in the Main Building. In addition, the CHF 10,000 competition HSG Founder of the Year (m/f) will be run. The winner’s business idea must be particularly innovative and sustainable, the start-up must include at least one member of the HSG, and the HSG must have provided crucial impulses for the implementation of the business idea. The winner will be chosen on the HSG Entrepreneurship Day on 2 May.
