27 May 2010. Practictioners and academics from all over the world will be discussing how modern technologes are put to innovative use at the 5th Conference on Design Science Research in Information Systems and Technology on 4 and 5 June 2010 at the University of St.Gallen (HSG). 100 experts from 21 countries are expected to participate.

Enterprises, hospitals and public administration are inconceivable without information technology. Three projects at the DESRIST Conference will demonstrate how information systems have to be designed in order to be of use in everyday life.

“We want to leave the ivory tower of purely explanatory research,” says Prof. Dr. Winter, Director at the HSG’s Institute of Information Management and principal organizer of this year’s conference. Structured procedures, he says, are at least as important as finding ideas, and he emphasizes: “We want to design the IT systems of enterprises, hospitals and public administration innovatively – they can only be improved by a practically relevant approach.”
