Take control of your future: the OBA as a source of inspiration for your career choice

Four days, over 150 exhibitors and 21,000 visitors: the Eastern Switzerland Education and Training Fair (OBA) is regarded as the largest educational event in Eastern Switzerland for career choice, further training and changing careers. This year, the OBA will take place from 27 to 30 August 2026.

Visitors to the OBA can learn about 250 professions and 600 training programmes from over 150 associations, educational institutions, career guidance services and companies specialising in initial and further education. The University of St.Gallen (HSG) will also be represented with a stand at the fair.

A wide range of training opportunities at HSG

The University of St.Gallen is one of the canton’s largest employers and offers apprenticeships in six different professions (Hall 3.0, Stand 3.0.02), about which young people can find out more:

  • Facilities Management Specialist EFZ
  • Information and Documentation Specialist EFZ
  • Hotel Communications Specialist EFZ
  • IT Specialist in Application Development EFZ
  • IT Specialist in Platform Development EFZ
  • Business Administrator in Services and Administration EFZ

In addition, the University of St.Gallen’s vocational training team is organising several workshops on the topic of "Your path to the perfect job application" (Hall 3.1, Forum 3.1). In these workshops, young people will receive practical tips on the application process and learn what companies look for in applications. The workshop lasts around 60 minutes and combines short expert presentations with interactive exercises and an open Q&A session. Advance registration is required for the workshops.

Key theme: Logistics

Logistics moves the world. The OBA is placing a special focus on this topic in 2026. Under the motto "Logistics moves the world – Experience logistics. Discover careers.", the Logistics Village (Hall 3.0, Stand 3.0.06) invites visitors to try out typical tasks for themselves, learn about modern technology and exchange ideas with apprentices and experts. The various hands-on stations demonstrate just how diverse the roles in logistics are and which professions underpin the processes that ensure goods make their way from their point of origin to their destination – from transport, through storage and distribution, to recycling and automation.
