ACA Prize for Financial Management goes to Alexandra Niessen-Ruenzi

Prof. Dr. Alexandra Niessen-Ruenzi of the University of Mannheim has been awarded the 2025 ACA Prize in Financial Management by the Institute for Accounting, Controlling and Auditing at the University of St.Gallen (ACA-HSG).

The ACA Award for Financial Management will be presented for the ninth time in 2025 to honour outstanding academic achievements in the fields of accounting, controlling, corporate finance and auditing. The Institute of Accounting, Controlling and Auditing at the University of St.Gallen (ACA-HSG) thus contributes to highlighting important research results and their implementation in practice in the field of financial management. The prize is one of the highest endowed awards in the German-speaking world and underlines the ACA-HSG's commitment to promoting and recognising outstanding achievements in the field of financial management.

Research on socio-economic factors influencing financial decisions

Alexandra Niessen-Ruenzi receives the award in recognition of her significant research contributions on socio-economic factors influencing financial decision-making. She completed her PhD at the University of Cologne in 2009 on the impact of macroeconomic news on capital market prices. She then joined the University of Mannheim as an assistant professor. There, Alexandra Niessen-Ruenzi became an associate professor in 2012 and finally took over the Chair of Corporate Governance as a full professor in 2018. During her academic career, she has received numerous best paper awards and research grants and has been invited as a keynote speaker at several conferences.

 

 

The laureate is one of the most influential and well-known scholars in the field of socio-economic factors in financial decision-making. Her research has been published in leading journals such as the Journal of Finance, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Finance and Management Science. She is also an Associate Editor of the Journal of Corporate Finance and a Council Member of the Society for Financial Studies.

 

The ACA Prize in Financial Management 2025 will be awarded at the ACA Symposium in Zurich on 20-21 May 2025.
