Emilia Garcia-Appendini is an Associate Professor of Banking and Financial Intermediation at the University of St. Gallen, and a member of the School of Finance. She is also a Senior Research Economist at Norges Bank, the central bank of Norway.

Before joining the University of St.Gallen, Prof. Garcia-Appendini held positions as Assistant Professor of Finance in Bocconi University and in the University of St. Gallen, and as a Senior Research Fellow in the University of Zurich. She has also been a visiting researcher at international institutions such as the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and the Bank of International Settlements.
After completing her undergraduate studies in Applied Mathematics at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) in Mexico City, Emilia Garcia-Appendini obtained her Master’s and PhD in Economics and Finance from Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. Her teaching experience includes lecturing at all academic levels in topics such as Econometrics and Financial Intermediation, among others.
