This certificate programme provides all HSG students at the Bachelor’s level with the possibility of acquiring skills in data science, so that they can play a successful and responsible role in today’s data-driven world!
Data is the abounding resource in today’s world; but surprisingly few are equipped with the necessary skills to create value out of this resource, and to deal with it responsibly.
In the DSF programme, you are going to be prepared to take a proactive role as mediator between the world of management and that of technically oriented data scientists. You will learn to judge data-driven projects from a variety of different angles, including technical, managerial, and societal. In such a role, you will have a critical impact in allowing all parties concerned with data-driven projects to better connect and realize their collaborative potential.
The programme is specially designed for Bachelor students. The programme language is English.
The programme starts each fall term. Application submission: 1 February to 30 June each year.
Yes, you can have data science-related courses from your exchange credited towards the DSF program. However, please note that we often do not grant the full number of ECTS credits for these courses. To plan accordingly, we recommend that you inform us in advance about the courses you intend to take. Please provide relevant details, such as a course fact sheet, so we can assess the course and inform you of the number of ECTS credits that may be granted.
Crediting must be formally requested through the Admissions and Crediting Office, following the standard procedure for exchange-related credit requests.
Yes, HSG courses that are part of the Data Science Fundamentals certificate program can be credited retroactively upon request. This refers to all courses listed as elective courses for the DSF.
If you would like to have previous HSG courses credited, please send an email with your request to the Admissions and Crediting Office. From 2025 on, this will also be explicitly stated in the admission notice for added clarity.
