With the Partner University Exchange programme, HSG students can spend one semester at one of more than 200 partner universities worldwide.

  • Application: once a year for the following academic year.
  • Allocation: centrally by Student Mobility Services.
  • Duration: one semester at the allocated partner university.
  • Participation: generally once per study level.
  • Costs: Tuition fees at HSG remain due. No tuition fees are charged at the partner university. Students are responsible for travel, accommodation, insurance, meals and other personal expenses.

Enrolled students can find the complete programme conditions and requirements in the StudentWeb.

For an application to the Partner University Exchange programme, the following basic academic requirements apply:

  • Bachelor’s level: At the time of application, students must be enrolled in a HSG Bachelor’s programme. When applying in the third semester, a minimum grade point average of 4.50 in the successfully completed Assessment Year is required. An exchange is possible from the fifth semester at the earliest.
  • Master’s level: At the time of application, students must be enrolled in a HSG Master’s programme. When applying in the first semester, a minimum grade point average of 4.50 in the Bachelor’s degree relevant for admission is required. An exchange is possible from the third semester at the earliest.

Please note: These are the basic requirements for an application. In addition, further academic and formal requirements apply. Depending on the partner university, additional criteria may apply, for example a higher grade point average, specific language skills or further admission requirements.

For enrolled HSG students, the complete and current requirements in the StudentWeb are binding.

For an application to the Partner University Exchange programme, a valid English language certificate that meets HSG’s minimum requirements is required.

In principle, the following English language certificates are recognised:

  • TOEFL iBT
  • IELTS Academic
  • Cambridge C1 Advanced
  • Cambridge C2 Proficiency

Under certain conditions, a university degree completed entirely in English or English as the language of schooling may also be recognised as proof.

English language certificates or corresponding qualifications must generally not be more than two years old at the application deadline.

Please note: Individual partner universities may set additional or higher language requirements or may accept only specific language certificates.

For enrolled HSG students, the complete and current regulations regarding recognised language certificates, minimum scores, validity and further requirements in the StudentWeb are binding.

HSG has a global network of more than 200 partner universities, offering exchange opportunities in numerous countries and regions.

A general overview of all partner universities can be found here.

For the specific selection and planning of an exchange semester, enrolled HSG students can use the Partner University Portal.

There you will find information on the individual exchange opportunities available, and in particular on:

  • study level and degree programmes
  • course offerings
  • language of instruction
  • semester dates
  • available exchange places
  • additional application requirements
  • partner university fact sheets

Please note: Individual partner universities may set additional requirements, for example a specific grade point average, language certificates or further admission criteria. Some of these requirements must already be fulfilled at the time of the HSG application.

Students who spend an exchange semester at a European partner university through the Partner University Exchange programme may generally be eligible for funding under the Swiss-European Mobility Programme (SEMP).

Information on requirements and the application process will be made available in the Mobility-Online portal after an exchange place has been allocated.

Changes to the SEMP programme conditions remain reserved.
