8 September 2022. The "Top 100 Swiss Startup Award 2022" honored several startups from HSG alumni on September 7: Fintech company Yokoy and foodtech company Planted took the top two spots on the list. Yokoy relies on artificial intelligence to automate the process for corporate spending, and Planted makes vegan meat substitutes from natural ingredients. Both startups carry the official HSG spin-off label, which has now been awarded to 167 startups.

Also HSG spin-offs are Decentriq (ranked 18th) and Oxygen at Work (ranked 95th). Decentriq develops so-called Data Clean Rooms, in which companies or government agencies can store data securely in a cloud and make it available to others for analysis and research purposes. Oxygen at Work offers indoor greening to improve air quality, a solution that has gained prominence with the corona pandemic. The greening is monitored and optimized through sensors and software. Oxygen at Work was also able to implement in several projects at HSG: The greening of the new teaching and learning building SQUARE and of the renovated university library were conceptualized by the startup.

Prestigious award for HSG startups

The "Top 100 Swiss Startup Award" has become one of the most prestigious awards in the Swiss startup scene: The award focuses on young companies from the deeptech sector - i.e. startups that develop innovative technical solutions. The award has become an important meeting point for investors and founders. The organizer Venturelab – a startup promotion initiative – states, that 512 Swiss startups that have appeared in the ranking since 2011 have created more than 16,000 jobs and received 11.1 billion in investments.

The 2022 award also honored three other startups with strong HSG ties: Resmonics, Sleepiz and Carvolution. Resmonics and Sleepiz were co-founded by HSG graduates and offer digital solutions in the healthcare sector. Carvolution was co-founded by an HSG alumna and offers a full-service car subscription service.
