BIB & IT Service Point – the new self-service kiosk

Want to borrow charging cables, calculators, or reserved media even outside of the library's service hours? This is now possible for members of the University at the BIB & IT Service Point.

The new BIB & IT Service Point is located in the central alcove A 09-023 in the library building, directly opposite the library entrance. Here, members of the University of St.Gallen can borrow, pick up or return various items during the building's opening hours:

All HSG members:

  • Same-day loan of gadgets such as charging cables, calculators, or power strips
  • Pickup of reserved library media

Staff only:

  • HSG-IT work materials

Requirements for using the Library's services:

Please note:
After the initial registration or any update to your number, you will not be able to borrow items from the BIB Service Point until the next day.

Gadget Loan

Now, with just a few simple steps, you can borrow some of our popular gadgets for a day. Here's how it works:

  1. Log in with your HSGcard
  2. Select a gadget
  3. Remove the item
  4. Close the compartment
  5. Scan the barcode on the pouch using the left-hand scanner

Items must be returned on the same day, using the BIB Service Point: the process is the same as for borrowing. Standard lending regulations for one-day loans apply, including late fees.

Our gadget display shows the real-time availability of gadgets at the BIB Service Point. A more extensive selection is still available during service hours at the circulation desk.

Media Pickup

Would you like to pick up reserved media or courier orders outside of our service hours? Use the link in the collection invitation email to schedule your pickup at the BIB Service Point.

We will issue the media to your library account and stock the kiosk before the circulation desk closes. Use your HSGcard to log in at the BIB Service Point and retrieve the media from the appropriate compartment. You can then return the items in the usual way: via the return box in front of the library building, the return slot next to the library entrance, or, during service hours, directly at the circulation desk.
