Senior Lecturer in Business Administration as of 1 August 2026

We are delighted about the appointment as Senior Lecturer in Business Administration: Dr. Philipp Alexander Ebel

Dr. Philipp Ebel studied Business Administration at the Technical University of Munich, graduating in 2011 with a Diploma in Business Administration. Following the completion of his doctorate at the University of Kassel in 2016, he served as Head of a Research Group before joining the University of St.Gallen in 2018 as a recipient of a GFF Fellowship. Since 2021, he has held the position of Assistant Professor of Business Administration with a special focus on Information Systems. Following a competitive appointment procedure, he was elected Senior Lecturer in Business Administration as of 1 August 2026.

In his research, Dr. Philipp Ebel investigates how digital technologies, and AI-based systems in particular, can be designed and deployed within organisations to support coordination, accountability and value creation. His work addresses topics including human-AI collaboration, the governance of AI-enabled automation, and the use of AI-based learning environments. Methodologically, he combines Design Science Research with qualitative and quantitative approaches, producing theoretically rigorous and practically relevant contributions to the responsible digital transformation of organisations. Alongside his research activities, Dr. Philipp Ebel has extensive teaching experience at Bachelor’s, Master’ and Executive Education level.

With his proven teaching and project experience, as well as his expertise at the intersection of Information Systems and Business Administration, Dr. Philipp Ebel makes a significant contribution to the continued development of both the Assessment Year and the Bachelor’s programme in Business Administration.

Dr. Philipp Ebel will remain a member of the School of Management and will continue his affiliation with the Institute of Information Systems and Digital Business (IWI-HSG).
