Prof. Dr. Mahei Li studied Business Informatics at the University of Mannheim and completed his doctorate at the University of Kassel in 2021. Following research stays at the National University of Singapore and Tongji University in China, he assumed responsibility for research projects and led a research group in the field of Information Systems at the University of Kassel. He has also maintained close ties with the Institute of Information Systems at the University of St.Gallen for many years, where he has served as a Postdoctoral Researcher and Project Manager since 2024.
His research focuses on the design, governance and organisational implications of generative and agentic AI. Combining qualitative field research, experimental methods and the development of AI systems, he seeks to provide organisations with evidence-based recommendations for action. His work has been published in leading journals, including the Journal of Strategic Information Systems and the Journal of Service Research. In addition, he brings extensive teaching experience at Bachelor’s, Master’s and Executive Education levels.
Prof. Dr. Mahei Li was elected through a competitive appointment process.
He joins the School of Management and will be affiliated with the Institute of Information Systems and Digital Business (IWI-HSG).
