• swissuniversities and Springer Nature were able to agree on a new Publish & Read deal

• Articles in Nature / Nature Research Hybrid journals
  • Accepted between 01.01. und 09.06.2026: These articles can be switched retospectively to Open Access in the coming weeks
  • Accepted after 10.06.2026: These articles will go through the regular Open Access publication process
• Articles in Springer Nature Gold Journals
  • The new agreement is only covering articles accepted for publication in participating Springer Nature Gold journals after 10.06.2026  
  • Articles that have been accepted for publication in particpating Springer Nature Gold journals and have been invoiced between 01.01. und 09.06.2026 are not covered by the new agreement

Requirements for eligibility

• «Corresponding author» is employed by the University of St.Gallen
• Article must have been written in connection with employment / research activity at the University of St.Gallen
• Use your institutional email address
• Upon submission: indicate affiliation with University of St.Gallen
• Persons without an employment contract with the University of St.Gallen are not eligible to participate in the Read-and-Publish Agreements

Article quota

• Nature / Nature Research Hybrid Journals: The number of articles per calendar year for which publication fees are covered is limited
• Springer Nature Gold Journals: The number of articles per calendar year for which publication fees are covered is limited
• We will inform you on this page as soon as the annual quota has been reached

Subsequent changes to OA status

• A subsequent change to the decision is not possible

Costs for authors

• None: Article Processing Charges (APC) are covered by the agreement
