Campus Conversation #91 with Alexandra Allgaier

Alexandra Allgaier on Studyond, family businesses and teaching at HSG, entrepreneurship between practice and academia.
Campus Conversation #91 mit Alexandra Allgaier, zwischen Studyond und Familienunternehmen

Alexandra Allgaier combines the best of different worlds. She is the founder of a company, a member of a family business and a teacher at the University of St.Gallen (HSG). At Studyond, she unites research, practice and students. Through Allgaier Agrarhandel, she has strong ties to her home region and the agricultural sector, while at HSG, her focus is on corporate auditing. It quickly becomes clear that, to make all this work simultaneously, structure, discipline and a great deal of passion are required.

In this episode, Alexandra talks about her contrasting daily life; balancing the lecture room with practical experience, a start-up mindset with a family business. She explains why she never wanted to choose just one path, and how she has learnt to view different roles not as contradictions, but as strengths.

We also discuss responsibility in a family business, the courage required to start a business, the importance of good teaching and what it really means to want to understand people. Her inclusion in the Forbes "30 Under 30" list is the result of a journey that shows you don't have to commit to one path to be successful.

This is an episode about ambition, down-to-earthness, and the art of combining opposites productively.
