Andreas Streinzer

Andreas Streinzer is Post-doc researcher at the Transcultural Studies Group at the HSG and co-coordinator of the project "Europe´s Un/deserving" (PI: Jelena Tosic). He is associate researcher at the Institute for Social Research, Frankfurt am Main. He was trained in sociology at Lancaster University, social philosophy at Goethe University Frankfurt, and graduated in social and cultural anthropology from University of Vienna in June 2019. He was a guest researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology in Halle/ Saale and Postdoc Fellow of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW). His dissertation investigated reconfigurations of provisioning during the economic crisis in Greece. He developed an analytic framework to ethnographically study socio-economic formations during rapid transformations combining state austerity, recession and disconsumption. In his current research, he investigates the moralisation of inequalities in Europe, specifically concerning questions of taxation and welfare in Austria.
