Public lecture by Penny Dick: “The (in)visibility of inequality: Rethinking equality and diversity in organizations”

In her presentation, Penny Dick sheds light on valuation practices and explores how the invisibility of some work and the high visibility of other work are created. Questioning why only specific contributions are perceived as valuable and significant, her analysis paves the way for a more inclusive understanding of diversity that recognizes and honors all forms of contribution, both visible and invisible, thereby fostering an environment where true equality can flourish.

Penny Dick, PhD, is a professor at the University of Sheffield in the UK. This spring term, she is collaborating with our university as a guest professor at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Penny Dick is a critical management scholar interested in inequalities in employment and careers. She has published widely and serves as Co-editor-in-chief of Human Relations. Her presentation is grounded in her most recent book on “Rethinking Gender Inequality in Organisations”.
