The University of St.Gallen (HSG) is one of Switzerland's leading educational institutions in terms of cooperation and coordination between compulsory service (military service, civil defence and civilian service) and studies. This excellent co-operation is particularly evident in the recognition of military leadership experience gained during cadre training in the Swiss Armed Forces.

Formal requirements
At Bachelor's level, a maximum of 4 credits can be awarded for training as a senior non-commissioned officer and a maximum of 6 credits for training as a junior officer. These credits, which have been earned as part of military service, can only be credited to the skills area. It is not possible to transfer them to other areas. You can have the military service credited if you have passed the assessment year. | Formal requirements
At Master's level, a maximum of 6 credits can be awarded for training as a company commander or staff officer. These credits, which have been earned in the context of military service, can only be credited to the skills area. They cannot be credited to other areas. You can have military service credited if you have a recognised Bachelor's or equivalent degree or if the conditions for obtaining a Bachelor's degree have been met for HSG students and the grades have been awarded. |
What are ECTS credits? "ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) is a Europe-wide recognised system for the recognition, transfer and accumulation of study credits. It is geared towards students and is based on the amount of work they have to complete in order to achieve the objectives of a degree programme. These objectives are preferably defined in terms of learning outcomes and skills to be acquired. The student's workload is expressed in credit points or credits". Crediting is based on the decree "II.B.1.19" Art. 135 ff. of the University of St.Gallen. "1 ECTS point corresponds to a student workload of 25-30 hours" |
Recognition requires a final grade of at least 3 (good) in the final military qualifications (final grade). The final qualifications of the cadre training and training services (earning) must be enclosed as a PDF.
MilCrd HSG crediting can only be applied for after completion of the full military leadership training (cadre training).
