Become a mentor

Share knowledge. Pass on experience.

The next mentoring cycle 2026–2028 will start in autumn 2026.
Please contact us at mentoring@unisg.ch. We will get in touch once the registration period opens in summer 2026.

Who can become a mentor?

Get involved as a mentor in the HSG Mentoring Programme and share your experience and knowledge. You will support a student on an individual basis over a period of approximately 1.5 years and take time for conversations, reflection, and exchange.

What are the requirements for participation?

  • You are at least 30 years old and have a minimum of 3 years’ professional experience since completing your degree.
  • You hold a university degree from the DACH region.
  • You have the time capacity for regular contact (at least one meeting per semester).
  • You enjoy sharing your experience and supporting students in their personal and professional development.

What makes a succuessful mentoring exchange?

  • Genuine interest in the mentee: You listen actively, ask reflective questions, and address the individual concerns of your mentee.
  • Sharing experience rather than prescribing solutions: You provide insights, guidance, and feedback—without offering ready-made answers.
  • Openness and appreciation: You engage respectfully with different perspectives and foster a relationship of trust.
  • Partnership on equal footing: You view mentoring as a collaborative dialogue rather than traditional advisory work.

"I support mentees in making their topics tangible by asking questions, shifting perspectives, and defining next steps. This dialogue on equal footing not only opens up pathways - it moves me forward as well."
