The Open Science Kick-Off on 24 February 2026 (13:30–15:00) will introduce the Open Science Office at HSG, its goals, services, and how it supports researchers, alongside a brief overview of Open Science and existing HSG initiatives such as Open Access, Alexandria, and research data management. A central element of the event is a panel discussion with HSG researchers who will share their experiences with Open Science and discuss opportunities and challenges in practice. The event will conclude with coffee and cake, offering an informal opportunity for exchange with the panelists and the Open Science team.

The workshop Open Science - from Idea to Impact introduces participants to core open science principles and practices from idea generation to publication and science communication. Through short inputs, discussion, and hands-on group work, participants will explore how open science addresses issues such as publication bias and reproducibility challenges, and how practices like preregistration, FAIR data, open code, and open access can be applied strategically to their own projects. The interactive format supports researchers in developing a concrete, project-specific open science action plan, with guidance on available tools and support structures at the University of St. Gallen.
