Strategic Plan 2030 published

The University of St.Gallen (HSG) has completed its current strategy process with the publication of the Strategic Plan 2030. Following the formulation and adoption of the new vision and mission last year, the Strategic Plan now provides the framework for orientation until 2030.

"Empowering talents, inspiring leaders" is the new mission of HSG. Its vision includes the ambitious goals of becoming the leading business university and the first port of call for committed talents in continental Europe. In addition, the aim is to develop responsible specialists and leaders and to create innovative and sustainable solutions for the major challenges facing the economy and society. These goals cannot be achieved overnight and require a long-term, consistent focus on quality.

As part of a multi-stage process involving key stakeholders, the Strategic Plan 2030 has been developed over the past few months. It describes common strategic directions for working towards the achievement of these goals.

President’s Board sets priorities

In order to work towards achieving these goals in a focused manner, the HSG President’s Board has defined three overarching priorities and initiated initial projects. In the spirit of proactive and forward-looking talent development, the HSG Best Talents excellence scholarship programme was launched, for which prospective Master's students can apply starting in October 2025.

To strengthen entrepreneurial activity, HSG Entrepreneurship has closed gaps in the range of services available to entrepreneurs, for example by setting up the HSG Start Accelerator for start-ups in the growth phase and the HSG Best Founders support programme for outstanding prospective entrepreneurs. Together with all relevant stakeholders in the region, work is underway to position St.Gallen even more strongly as an attractive location for young companies and entrepreneurs.

The new strategy is supported, among other things, by an excellent and committed faculty. In order to position HSG as an attractive and inspiring place for leading scientists with different profiles and career paths, a concept for recruitment, promotion and evaluation processes has been established that takes individual strengths into account. This holistic portfolio approach ensures that faculty members with different areas of expertise complement each other and create synergies.

"HSG is excellently positioned to continue to play a leading international role as a business university in the future," says President Prof. Dr Manuel Ammann in the introduction to the document. "Together, we want to further develop HSG in terms of quality and make it a beacon of talent development, innovation and inspiration by consistently pursuing our mission of 'Empowering Talents, Inspiring Leaders".
