Do you know what a hash value is? Where metadata hides in electronic evidence? What evidentiary value a screenshot has? How to correctly reference electronic evidence in case files?
If you (still) do not know the answers to these questions, this course is for you.
The course introduces legal professionals to the most important topics in digital forensics and imparts the necessary skills for handling electronic evidence in civil, criminal, and administrative proceedings. The field of digital forensics — long neglected in legal education — is becoming indispensable for legal practice. In this course, we will address its fundamentals.
The course is aimed at attorneys, legal service staff, prosecutors, judges, court clerks, auditors, and other legal professionals working in criminal, civil, or administrative law who have a legal background. No prior knowledge of digital forensics or computer science is required.
The course consists of a preparatory online webinar on 5 December 2025 (afternoon, 1:30–4:00 p.m.) and a full-day session on January 12, 2026 at the Executive Campus HSG in St. Gallen.
