Law Double Degree Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy

The selected students study for three semesters at the University of St.Gallen and for one semester at the Fletcher School in Medford, Massachusetts. As a result of the cooperation between the two schools and the mutual recognition of course work, it is possible for participants to complete a MIL, MLaw or MLE at the HSG and a Master of Laws in International Law (LLM) at The Fletcher School in just two years. 

As the students are at Fletcher School in the spring semester, the previous interim fall semester could be used for working on thesis, or internships, etc. Student would still have to be enrolled in St.Gallen and pay semester-leave fees.

Students have option to stay a second semester to take additional courses and/or complete thesis.

MIL, MLaw and MLE students can apply for the double degree programme with Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. Admission criteria include:

• Academic performance
• Motivation and extracurricular involvement
• Proficiency in English

MIL (69 ECTS - within 3 semesters (DDP Fletcher))

• Compulsory subjects  (18 ECTS)​

MLaw (69 ECTS -  within 3 semesters (DDP Fletcher))

MLE (69 ECTS - within 3 semesters (DDP Fletcher))

• Compulsory subjects (18 ECTS)​
• Core electives (27 ECTS)​
• Contextual studies (6 ECTS)​
• Master's thesis (18 ECTS)​

• 2 law courses
• 1 course in diplomacy, history,politics
• 1 course in economics and international business
• Capstone retreat(spring semester)

Details:

• Approx. 30 ECTS credits are completed at the partner university. 21 ECTS of these are transferred towards the HSG degree.
• Students have the option to stay a second semester to take additional courses and/or complete thesis

After beginning the MIL, MLaw or MLE programme, you can apply in Autumn Semester.

• CV
• Language skills test: TOEFL (100), IELTS (7)
• 2-3 letters of recommendation, at least one from academia. As for the structure please refer to: How to Apply | The Fletcher School
• Minimum grade average: 4.50 (Transcript of the final grades of the B.A. with Diploma Supplement and minimum GPA of 4.50, incl. Grading Scale)

Application in the Autumn Semester via the Mobility-Online portal 

Late or incomplete applications are not considered.

Our DDP students have successfully applied for scholarships in the past. Please be aware that the scholarships have not covered the full cost though.
