Career Opportunities

Bachelor in Law (BLaw)

The BLaw provides an excellent foundation for both legal and non-legal careers. After completing the advanced Master in Law (MLaw), you will have access to careers in legal practice, prosecution, and the judiciary. Our graduates also work as corporate lawyers, compliance managers, in human resources, as well as in auditing and tax consulting.

Examples of Professional Fields

Legal Career: As a legal assistant, you start your legal career by supporting lawyers in their daily work. You conduct legal research, prepare documents, and contribute to solving complex legal issues. This entry-level position provides a solid foundation for further studies as well as a future career as a lawyer, notary, or in the public prosecutor's office.

Court: As a court clerk, you assist judges in the preparation and drafting of court decisions. Your responsibilities include the legal analysis of cases, drafting decision proposals, and documenting procedural processes. This role offers you deeper insights into judicial practice and provides valuable experience for a future career.

Consulting: In the role of a corporate lawyer, you advise companies on a wide range of legal issues, particularly in the areas of compliance and corporate governance. You assist in drafting and reviewing contracts, ensuring legal compliance, and resolving legal questions. A specialization in tax consulting with a focus on legal aspects is also possible. This career path offers diverse opportunities in the business sector, especially with an advanced Master’s degree.

NGOs and International Organizations: In NGOs and international organizations, you can focus on specific legal issues and work in policy development as well as legal consulting. These positions provide the opportunity to engage in socially relevant topics and contribute to international legal development. A further Master's degree is often advantageous for a career in politics or diplomacy.

Academic Career: After completing the BLaw, many students choose to pursue an advanced Master's degree, often to pass the Swiss bar exam. An academic career typically begins with a position as a research assistant or doctoral candidate, where you will write academic papers and participate in research projects.
