Reopening library building

The university library is back in its usual place in the ground floor of the renovated library building. We return in good old quality and with fresh new looks.

The library team is delighted to welcome you back in our usual facilities on the ground floor of the library building.

We made a video to show you what we have been up to in the last couple of months and what you’ll find in the refurbished library:

we're back, we're new!

Location

Now you’ll find the entrance to the library on the left hand side of the corridor in the middle, which is called Avenue.

Opening hours / Service hours

Due to lacking demand we will reduce our staffing hours for the circulation desks in the evening. This will be compensated by security personel. Our opening hours remain the same. To the opening and service hours.

What’s new in the library building?

Visitor direction

The library will now be entered through an automatic sliding door, which will help to regulate the flow of visitors. The Avenue will lead to the library and offer a space for encounters and interactions. The entrance to the library and the HSG shop are located to the left of the Avenue. To its right library you will find the library’s offices as well as rooms for consultations and events.

Connection to the Learning Center

At the bottom of the Avenue an exit with a covered walkway to the Learning Center (starting spring term 2022).

Consultation and event corners

The nooks on the right hand side of the Avenue have a hybrid function. They can serve to hold small events as well as the consultations of the PC tutor and the Writing Lab.

HSG-Shop

The HSG-Shop has moved and is now presenting ist exclusive offerings of university merchanndise in the library building’s avenue. This goes hand in hand with extended opening hours. More about the HSG-Shop.

Replacement of shelves

Our 30 year old shelves had to make space for a new generation – this time on wheels! Around 9000 meters of media had to be moved from the old shelves to their new homes. We also optimised the signage.

New study spaces for PhD and Masters students

The special study places for PhD and Masters students were given a new and unified home on the upper floor. These 40 spaces offer a guaranteed desk in a quiet learning and working environment and come with a personal locker in the library. More on study space.
