Yes, we organize the “MGM Welcome Days” (week 37, Monday and Tuesday) for our new students before the official start of the semester (week 38). This introductory event serves to get to know the students, the program management, selected members of our faculty and renowned guests from business and society. Students admitted to our Master's program will receive more detailed information about the MGM Welcome Days program in the summer before the start of their studies. It is strongly recommended that you attend this introductory event.
No. According to Art. 3 of the study regulations, the MGM can only be started in the fall semester of each year.
Please note that our MGM Welcome Days (Monday and Tuesday) start in week 37 and thus before the official start of the semester. Students admitted to our Master's programme will receive more detailed information about the MGM Welcome Days and the programme in the summer before the start of the programme. It is strongly recommended that you attend this introductory event. In addition, the Academic Day, which takes place in week 37 (Friday) and introduces students to the university, is compulsory for new HSG students.

The MGM is a full-time, on-campus degree program, which is why employment cannot be officially supported. If students decide to take on a part-time job, they must coordinate this individually with all lecturers of the courses, examination dates and group work. We recommend part-time employment of a maximum of 20-30%. Please note the maximum study time limit of 8 semesters.
No, this is not possible. Please note that the Managerial Impact Project extends over two consecutive semesters, starting each fall semester, and it is not possible to complete a semester abroad during this time.
According to Art. 2 of the study regulations, an exchange semester is not possible in the first semester of the master's program. In addition, an exchange semester in the third semester is recommended. Further information on exchange opportunities in the MGM can be found here.
MGM students have the opportunity to apply for exclusive double degrees with renowned partner universities as well as for the prestigious CEMS Master's in International Management (MiM) double degree.

Depending on the course, centralized or decentralized examinations are written. The respective examination format is documented in a memo and is binding at the beginning of the semester. Centralized examination dates take place outside of the lecture period (see schedule overview). Decentralized examination dates take place during the lecture period and are announced by the lecturers during the semester.
Yes. Since the MGM program is ideally designed to prepare students for working life, emphasis is placed on collaborative work skills. Whether a course includes a group work component or not can be found in the respective course description in the course catalog.
The University of St. Gallen uses a bidding system to register students for courses. This system ensures that all students have the best possible chance of being allocated a place on their chosen courses.

Formal questions regarding the crediting of practical credits should be directed to the central Admissions and Credit Transfer Office at the University of St.Gallen. In order for us to credit your practical work, it must be related to the subject matter of the Master in General Management program. The practical report can be written in German or English.
