Educational Resources

This page serves as a central knowledge hub for all aspects of Open Science. It provides educational materials, including seminar recordings and slides, as well as links to external resources for further learning.

On this Page

This page brings together a comprehensive collection of materials designed to support researchers, students, and staff in adopting Open Science practices.

Here, you will find an indexed overview of resources from across our University, such as workshop recordings, presentation slides, guidelines, and templates, alongside selected high-quality external materials created by other institutions, research organizations, and international Open Science initiatives.

Are you looking for resources and consulting on methods for your next research project? You can find more information on the Data & Method Consulting page at HSG.

How is this Page Structured?

Below is an alphabetically ordered index of Open Science topics, with curated resources for each. For every topic, you will find two types of materials: those developed at the University of St. Gallen and those from external sources. Each item includes a link directing you to the full material.

Resources are classified into the following categories:

→ Textual Materials
Written content such as textbooks, articles, reports, manuals, and policy documents.

→ Digital & Web-Based Resources
Websites, online courses, learning platforms, blogs, and interactive tools.

→ Guidelines & Reference Materials
Standards, best-practice guidelines, protocols, handbooks, and checklists intended for consultation rather than sequential learning.

→ Multimedia Resources
Videos, podcasts, webinars, animations, and recorded lectures.

→ Instructional & Training Materials
Lesson plans, workshops, training modules, exercises, and curricula designed for teaching or skills development.

→ Workshops & Seminars
Short courses, seminars, training sessions, and facilitated learning events (both in-person and virtual).

→ Advisory & Support Services
Specialized support centers or expert units providing consultation, guidance, capacity building, and hands-on assistance.

This educational resource hub is continuously growing and evolving. We welcome your input: if you are looking for resources on a specific topic or would like to contribute materials yourself, please get in touch.

Data Sharing & Data Management

Data Sharing involves making the data underlying research findings available to other researchers, typically through trusted repositories, at the time of publication or earlier. It is increasingly encouraged (and often required) by journals and funders as a core practice for transparent, rigorous, and reproducible research.

Data Repositories

Data repositories are digital platforms that store, preserve, and provide access to research outputs, including datasets as well as structured metadata describing research articles and other scholarly works. They support good research practices by enabling discovery, citation, interoperability, and reuse, and are increasingly required or recommended by journals and funders to promote transparency, reproducibility, and the long-term value of research.
