29 April 2019. Over the course of a week, the St.Gallen Cultural Days combine the activities of the student cultural associations. The programme offers a multi-faceted insight into culture. City cultural institutions are also involved in the programme.
Making delicacies and tasting coffee
The visitors will have a chance to make tasty morsels and sample coffee as part of a barista workshop, during a dinner preparation in the La Vigna tavern or at a pasta course by the students’ Italian Club. Author and food researcher Dominik Flammer talks more about the history of the culinary heritage in the alpine region.
Niko Stoifberg reads from his debut novel "Dort"
On Saturday morning, author Niko Stoifberg reads from his debut novel Dort (Saturday, May 18 from 10.00 a.m. till 12.00 noon, literature room in the main post office, St. Leonhard-Strasse 40, St.Gallen). Artificial intelligence is also stepping onto the stage, but in dance form: On 10 May, 7.30 p.m., visitors to the Cultural Days can experience the St.Gallen theatre dance company in the Lokremise. After the performance of the contemporary piece “Coppél-A.I.”, guests have the opportunity to meet the dance company members. In the evenings, the HSG Big Band, the university choir and the university orchestra will be holding concerts.
HSG students perform Arthur Miller's Play "The Crucible" to the stage
The HSG student theatre brings Arthur Miller’s “The Crucible” to the stage. Visitors to the Cultural Days get to look behind the scenes during a play rehearsal in the St.Gallen theatre. They have the opportunity to watch director Jonas Knecht and a group of actors during their rehearsal of Tennessee Williams’ drama “A Streetcar Named Desire”. The Cultural Days conclude on Saturday, 18 May 2019 from 8.00 p.m. with a concert performed by the bands DAENS, Silas and AVA in the Kaffeehaus at Linsebühlstrasse 77.
All events are open to the public. Booking is required for some events. Information on individual events is available online and during the festival in the Cultural Days lounge in the university’s main building. It will be open from 10.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. daily. Snacks and drinks will be available for guests. The festival armband can be purchased for CHF 5, giving the holder reductions to events for which there is a charge.
